James Bean, LICSW

James Bean II, LICSW, is a seasoned professional in the field of social services, having kickstarted his career in 1985. Born and raised in Gary, Indiana, his foray into social work started at the Gary Mental Health Center, a facility now named Edgewater Mental Health. There, he worked closely with a patient population grappling with severe persistent mental illnesses that exhibited dangerous tendencies. His work in social services continued even after relocating to Minnesota in 1987. There, he worked with Carlson Drake, a Rule 36 facility, enhancing his experience in the field.
Apart from his professional life, James is also a dedicated family man and spiritual leader. As an ordained Pastor with a Doctorate in Ministry from Warren Robbins University, he co-founded the Spirit of Truth Church in Burnsville with his wife, Pearline. Academically, James holds a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Augsburg and a Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Minnesota. After working for nearly 30 years, James took retirement from Hennepin County in 2016. He holds the esteemed title of Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and is a respected figure in the realm of social work and therapeutic services.
